CFO Selwyn Thys is thanked for his contribution to Kouga by Finance Portfolio Councillor Brenton Williams and Mayor Horatio Hendricks.

Kouga Municipality said a sad farewell to its Chief Financial Officer this week.

Selwyn Thys has been offered a position at Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality after four years at Kouga.

"This is a keenly-felt loss for Kouga, but a wonderful opportunity for Mr Thys," said Kouga Mayor Horatio Hendricks.

"He has been an asset and great leader since the first day he started at Kouga in January 2015."

During his time as CFO, Thys helped to ensured that Kouga Municipality became financially sustainable and put in control measures to prevent fraud and corruption from taking place.

He further ensured that Kouga Municipality obtained a clean audit for its financials for the 2018/19 year.

"My focus as CFO was always on the orginasation and not the sideshows. The sideshows are there to distract you from what you need to achieve," Thys said at his farewell.

"Embrace your team, don't knock them. To all my colleagues it was really rewarding to work with you."
