A community-based organisation from Humansdorp is gearing up for its first Fathers & Men of Honour Awards.

The award ceremony will be hosted in November by Sakhe Singamadoda.

The organisation was among those to receive financial assistance from the Department of Social Development when MEC Nancy Sihlwayi visited Kouga in July.

“We are very grateful to the MEC for supporting our organisation,” said Thanduxolo Buka. “The awards are one of the programmes we will be rolling out with the funding we received.”

Sakhe Singamadoda was established some two years ago and offers training and support in parenting, fatherhood and manhood. The programmes are offered at schools, churches and the broader community.

“The awards programme will be aimed at profiling men who are rolemodels in their homes, at work and in their communities. It will coincide with International Men’s Day,” he said.

“Nominations will be open to everyone. We ask that people watch the press for details.”
