Municipal honours award for councillor

28 February 2017

The honorary title of “Alderman” was bestowed on long-serving councillor Ben Rheeder (centre) at the Opening of the Kouga Council on Tuesday, 28 February. Aldermanship is conferred on councillors who have served on one or more municipal councils for 20 consecutive years. Alderman Rheeder served on the St Francis Bay Council from 1995 until 2001 when St Francis Bay amalgamated with four other municipalities to form Kouga Local Municipality. He has been a member of the Kouga Local Council since 2001. He has also served as Ward Councillor and has excelled in serving the community and keeping their best interest at heart. Executive Mayor Elza van Lingen and Mayoral Committee Councillor Danny Benson congratulated Alderman Rheeder on the achievement.
