New codes get set for Mayor's Cup

Four new sporting codes and two old favourites will compete for top honours in the Kouga Mayor’s Cup tournament this April.

“We are very excited that we have been able to include more sporting codes in the Mayor’s Cup this year,” Kouga Executive Mayor Horatio Hendricks said.

“Sport has the potential to change people’s lives for the better and I am honoured to be able to contribute to the development of our local sporting codes through this tournament.”

The first Mayor’s Cup Beach Volleyball and Cricket tourneys will take place on 6 and 7 April.

The volleyball will be played at the Jeffreys Bay main beachfront and the cricket at Mentorskraal. For further volleyball info contact Trevor Watkins on 083 441 1721 and for further cricket info contact Leon Miggels at 078 488 6033.

The first Kouga Mayor’s Cup Pool Tournament will take place at Jeffreys Bay on 6 April. Further information is available from Ruwellyn Kurat on 067 109 5980.

An old favourite, the Kouga Mayor’s Cup Netball Tourney, will also take place on 6 April, with the action set to happen in Humansdorp. Further information is available from Mr Brown on 083 501 4548.

Another regular event, the Mayor’s Cup Golf Tourney, will take place on 26 April at the St Francis Bay Golf Club. Bookings can be made at the golf club or with Ivan Kamte on 083 344 5546.

The first Mayor’s Cup Chess Tournament will also be held in April at the Newton Hall in Jeffreys Bay. The date will still be confirmed. For further info contact Petrus Stuurman on 083 9741 924.
