Search for missing housing beneficiaries

04 April 2017

An urgent search has been launched for more than 100 prospective beneficiaries for the Kruisfontein 391 housing project at Humansdorp.

Kouga Infrastructure, Planning and Development Portfolio Councillor Desmond Petersen said the municipality and provincial Department of Human Settlements have not been able to trace 133 of the prospective beneficiaries who had signed up for the housing project.

“Notices, listing the names, are to be published in the media this week as a last effort to get hold of the prospective beneficiaries,” he said. “If they do not make contact with the municipality’s Housing Department by 30 April, we will have no choice but to replace them.”

He said municipal housing officials would be stationed at the Office of the Ward Councillor in Ward 5 (old rental office next to Graslaagte Primary) from next week so as to make it easier for prospective beneficiaries to have their information verified.

The officials will be at the Ward Councillor’s office from 10 April to 10 May 2017, between the hours of 10am and 1pm.

“This is an urgent appeal to those who signed up for houses in this area to check the list of ‘missing beneficiaries’ for their names. Should your name be on the list, please come to the Ward Councillor’s office so that we might assist you in securing your house,” Petersen said.

Applicants need to bring along certified copies of the following documents:

* ID document of the applicant

* ID document of the applicant’s spouse, if married

* Marriage certificate, if married

* Birth certificates and ID documents of financial dependants

* Proof of income, if employed

* Death certificate, if your spouse has passed away

* Divorce order, if divorced
