CONTRACTUAL POSITIONS

 

2 x SHARK SPOTTERS

 

(Jeffreys Bay & Cape St Francis Bay)

(Jeffreys Bay: 6 Months Contract: 1 November 2017 – 30 April 2018)

(Cape St Francis Bay: 3 Months Contract: 1 December 2017 – 28 February 2018)

 

REQUIREMENTS         Grade 10;

Must be able to scan coastal waters for sharks from an elevated platform;

Must have excellent eyesight;

Must have foreknowledge of the different types of sharks that are in our aquatic region and their behaviors;

Must be well acquainted with strict protocols that are in place to effectively warm water users of the presence of sharks and assisting them out if possible;

Background in lifesaving, fishing industry and/or surfing will be an added advantage;

Must be able to work overtime and public holidays;

Must be able to speak two (2) of the three (3) official languages in Kouga (English, Afrikaans, and IsiXhosa)

 

DUTIES                       

Will improve beach safety through both shark warnings and emergency assistance in the event of shark incident;

Will provide and promote public awareness about shark related issues;

Will contribute to research on shark ecology should need arise.

 

28 X LIFEGUARDS

 

(Contract from 5 December 2017 – 15 January 2018 and 10 days over Easter Weekend 2018)

 

REQUIREMENTS       

Lifesaving experience is essential;

A Valid Surf Proficiency Award or Lifeguard Award Qualification Certified Identification Document required (Attached to Application Form)

Must understand the rules of the Blue Flag;

Contract from 5 December 2017 – 15 January 2018 and 10 days over Easter Weekend 2018;

Must be physically fit (attached re test documentation);

Must be able to speak two (2) of the three (3) official languages in Kouga (English, Afrikaans, and IsiXhosa)

 

2 x SENIOR LIFEGUARDS

 

(1 x Jeffreys Bay: 6 Months Contract: 1 November 2017 – 30 April    2018)

(1 x Cape St Francis Bay: 3 Months Contract: 1 December 2017 – 28 February 2018)

 

REQUIREMENTS        

Experience in dealing with the public and have good communication skills;

Knowledge and experience in Kouga Blue Flag operation and coordination;

Ability to facilitate information sessions;

Lifesaving experience is essential;

A Valid Surf Proficiency Award or Lifeguard Award Qualification Identification Document required (Attached to Application Form)

Must be physically fit (attached re test documentation)

Must understand the rules of the Blue Flag;

Must be able to speak two (2) of the three (3) official languages in Kouga (English, Afrikaans, and IsiXhosa)

 

6 X PILOT BEACH LIFEGUARDS: CAPE ST FRANCIS BAY

 

(3 Months Contract: 1 December 2017 – 28 February 2018)

 

REQUIREMENTS        

Lifesaving experience is essential;

A Valid Surf Proficiency Award or Lifeguard Award Qualification (Attached to the application form)

Identification Document required (Attached to Application Form)

Must understand the rules of the Blue Flag;        

Must be physically fit (attached re test documentation)

Must be able to speak two (2) of the three (3) official languages in Kouga (English, Afrikaans, and IsiXhosa)

 

9 x BLUE FLAG LIFEGUARDS

 

(6 Months Contract: 1 November 2017 – 30 April 2018)

 

REQUIREMENTS        

Lifesaving experience is essential;

A Valid Surf Proficiency Award or Lifeguard Award Qualification (Attached to the application form)

Must be willing to undergo the Kouga Municipality interview process;

Must be able to operate Jetski (Skippers License evaluation)

Must be physically fit (attached re test documentation)

First aid qualification (level 1-3 or level 5)

                       

REMUNERATION        1.         2 x Shark Spotter                              R300.00 per day

                                    2.         28 x Life Guards                                R300.00 per day

                                    3.         2 x Senior Lifeguards                        T6 R133 788.00 annually

                                    4.         6 x Pilot Beach Lifeguards              R300.00 per day

                                    5.         9 x Blue Flag Lifeguards                   T5 R110 688.00 annually
