BUILDING INSPECTOR

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • NQF level 6 qualification as a Trade Tested Artisan in the civil/ construction industry;
  • 2 Years’ relevant Experience;
  • Code EB driving license;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Good reporting skills;
  • Ability to work with the public;
  • Must display tact and diplomacy and adherence to strict confidence;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Good Communication Skills (Written and verbal);
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in at least two of the official languages in Kouga Municipality (Afrikaans, English, and Xhosa). 

 

TASK:                                                       11

SALARY:                                                   R279 505.50 – R362 801.25 Per Annum

 

DUTIES:

  • Performs task/ activities associated with the implementation of procedures and, monitors compliance with standards and specifications with regard to new building, additions and renovations to existing structures;
  • Visiting specific work-sites/ Housing Projects and conducting inspections to establish materials, the construction of the works and procedures are in accordance with approved design drawings, specifications, statutory regulations (National Building Regulations) and Town Planning Schemes;
  • Coordinates and control task/ activities associated with controlling personnel performance, productivity and discipline within the functionality;
  • Performs specific administrative task/activities associated with the updating and maintaining records/ information of work in progress and completed works;
  • Performs specific activities associated with communications and providing support to line functions.     

PLANS EXAMINER 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • NQF level 6 qualification as a Registered Architectural Technician and/or Building Inspector;
  • 2 Years’ relevant Experience;
  • Code EB driving license;
  • Good knowledge of National Building Regulations;
  • Good report writing skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Must display tact and diplomacy and adherence to strict confidence;
  • Interpersonal Skills;
  • Good Communication Skills (Written and verbal);
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in at least two of the official languages in Kouga Municipality (Afrikaans, English, and Xhosa).

 

TASK:                                                       11

SALARY:                                                   R279 505.50 – R362 801.25 Per Annum

 

DUTIES:

  • Implements task/activities associated with the implementation of procedures and, monitors compliance with standards and specifications with regard to plans examination;
  • Liaise with the public, building contractors, consulting engineers, land surveyors, draugfhtsmen, and architects, providing guidance and assistance with the applications of National Building Regulations;
  • Conducting a Preliminary examination of building plans and relevant required documentation required for building plan approval;
  • Scrutinizing building plans in terms of the National Building regulations and that NBR Regulations have been met;
  • Consulting with the Fire Department, Health, Drainage, Cleansing, Roads and Town Planning on matters relating to the approval;
  • Checks and verifies that design details and construction specifications detailed on building plans conforms with regulations prior to approval;
  • Performs specific administrative task/activities associated with the updating and maintaining of records/information of work in progress and completed works;
  • Performs specific activities associated with communications and providing support to line function.      

 

ARTISAN AIDE: ELECTRICAL

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant Electrical qualification at NQF level 5;
  • 2 Years’ relevant Experience;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Code C1 Driving License and PrDP;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Good supervisory skills;
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in at least two of the official languages in Kouga Municipality (Afrikaans, English, and Xhosa).

 

TASK:                                                       7

SALARY:                                                   R165 903.00 – R215 334.75 Per Annum

 

DUTIES:

  • Implements activities associated with the construction and installations of medium/ low voltage electrical networks;
  • Reading and interpreting minor drawings/ work orders detailing layout and specifications;
  • Laying cables and positioning supporting structures (poles) and cleaning and tinning of conductors, binding and strapping, stripping of individual conductors;
  • Attending to the erection and installation sequences of poles, cross waves, stays, lines, aerial transformers, switchgear, etc;
  • Terminating cables, wires etc. to junction boxes, connecting blocks and/ or terminals including soldering, fitting of lugs and harnessing wires;
  • Joining LT and HT cables;
  • Installing and replacing of new or faulty prepaid and KWH electrical meters to the new customers;
  • Performs activities and sequences associated with maintaining the functionality of medium/ low voltage electrical reticulation and lighting systems;
  • Controls tasks/ activities associated with controlling General Workers performance, productivity, and discipline within the functionality;
  • Monitors the cleaning of worksites, stores equipment and tools and loads materials prior to departure from work site;
  • Performs specific activities associated with communications and providing support to line functions.
