KOUGA – She has strong organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as interpersonal skills and an adeptness for technology. Add to that strategic thinking, adaptability, and attention to detail.
Not to forget her infectious laugh, love for fashion and ever-changing hairstyle – just adding that x-factor.
Wendy Betsha (27), the Office Administrator of the Office of the Deputy Municipal Manager, was named Kouga Municipality’s Most Value-Driven Female Employee for 2023.
This after the municipality held its second Most Value-Driven Female Employee competition earlier this year in celebration of Women’s Month.
Betsha echoes the values of the municipality in all she does daily, no matter how big or small the task may be. And the words ‘not possible’ does not exist in her vocabulary.
“It was so unexpected,” said Betsha, who was surprised to be named the winner. “I thank my almighty God to be bestowed such a prestigious title. I will forever be grateful, even though I feel a little bit of pressure to push myself harder now.”
Betsha’s, who holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and public administration from Nelson Mandela University (NMU), journey at Kouga Municipality began in February 2022 when she started as an intern.
Through dedication and hard work, she was appointed full-time as an office administrator in December 2022.
Often glued to her desk, Betsha described this as her sacred space – ap place where she tests her limits and challenges herself to do even better. It she was to name it, it would be “enfocar,” a Spanish word for “focus”.
Betsha credits her work ethic and drive to her mother, who has always been her role model. “My mother instilled in me the importance of hard work and values from a very young – which I am eternally grateful for,” she said.
According to Kouga Deputy Municipal Manager, David de Jager, Betsha is trustworthy, honest, and a driven individual with a will to succeed.
“She is a total professional, and she is the embodiment of good governance through service excellence,” he said.
