The Big Easter Bash is set to take to the water at Marina Martinique in Jeffreys Bay on Sunday, April 9.

THE second Big Easter Bash Open Water Swim is set to take place at Marina Martinique on Sunday, April 9 – catering for all levels of swimming ability.

The event forms part of the jam-packed Kouga Easter Festival that will take place in Jeffreys Bay from Friday, April 7 to Sunday, April 9.

The 3km swim, scheduled to take to the water at 09:30, will be the first event of the morning.

The 300m dash is up next at 09:32, followed by the kids’ bank-to-bank swim at 10:15.

The last swim to splash of is the 1km event at 11:00.

“Marina Martinique is regarded as the open water swim capital of Africa,” said Kouga Executive Mayor, Horatio Hendricks. “The venue recently played home to the South African Open Water Swim Championships, which was an Olympic qualifier.”

The entry fee for the 3km swim is R200, while the entry fee for the 300m dash and bank-to-bank swim is R120 and R100 respectively. The entry fee for the 1km swim is R150.

Enter online at www.zsport.co.za. Late entries will be accepted on the day. An additional late entry fee of R50 will apply.

The first 100 entrants will receive a Kouga Municipality goodie bag, while the top three swimmers in each category will receive a trophy.
