KOUGA MUNICIPALITY HOSTS FIRST CAREER EXPO
A total of 768 grade 12 learners from across the Kouga region benefited from a Career Expo hosted by the Human Resources Department of Kouga Municipality – a first for the municipality.
The four schools that formed part of the expo, that took place on Wednesday, September 22, are Jeffreys Bay Comprehensive School, Lungiso High School in Humansdorp, Humansdorp Senior Secondary School, and Hankey Secondary School.
“The purpose of the expo was to give grade 12 learners an opportunity to obtain information and explore different career opportunities that are available to them after school,” said Kouga Corporate Services Portfolio Councillor, Timothy Jantjes.
“The municipality compiled comprehensive career information packs for each learner – complete with markers, sanitisers and notebook in order for them to put their dreams and ambitions to paper.”
According to Jantjes, human resources is not only about recruitment and selection, but has a broader spectrum of responsibility in the community that it operates in.
“This is the beginning of a long-term partnership with the Department of Education and its learners as the municipality aims to host a career expo annually,” said Jantjes.
