 SOCIAL SERVICES

 CONTRACTUAL POSITIONS (EASTER HOLIDAY)

SHARK SPOTTER

 REQUIREMENTS            

Grade 10;

Must be able to scan coastal waters for sharks from an elevated platform;

Must have excellent eyesight;

Must have foreknowledge of the different types of sharks that are in our aquatic region and their behaviors;

Must be well acquainted with strict protocols that are in place to effectively warm water users of the presence of sharks and assisting them out if possible;

Background in lifesaving, fishing industry and/or surfing will be an added advantage;

Must be able to work overtime and public holidays;

Must be able to speak two (2) of the three (3) official languages in Kouga (English, Afrikaans, and IsiXhosa)

DUTIES

Will improve beach safety through both shark warnings and emergency assistance in the event of shark incident;

Will provide and promote public awareness about shark related issues;

Will contribute to research on shark ecology should need arise.

32 X LIFEGUARDS

REQUIREMENTS           

Lifesaving experience is essential;

A Valid Surf Proficiency Award or Lifeguard Award Qualification Identification Document required (Attached to Application Form)

Must understand the rules of the Blue Flag;

Must be able to speak two (2) of the three (3) official languages in Kouga (English, Afrikaans, and IsiXhosa)

REMUNERATION       1.         Shark Spotter               R260.00 per day

                                    2.         28 x Life Guards           R260.00 per day
