VACANCY

CHIEF CLERK: SALARIES

REQUIREMENTS:                                   

• Relevant NQF level 6 qualification;
• 2 to 3 years relevant experience;
• Compliance with the Municipal Amendment Regulations on Minimum Competency Levels for Financial Officials, 2018 will be an advantage;
• Working knowledge of the payroll system, pertaining to staff benefits, rules of the pension and medical aid funds;
• Fluent in at least 2 of the 3 official languages prevalent in the Kouga Area;
• Must be able to handle highly pressurized situations.
• High level of proficiency in Excel;

SALARY:                                               R156 144.00 – R 202 668.00

TASK:                                                    7

DUTIES:

• Process monthly salary payments of all staff;
• Verify that appointments received from the HR section fall within the grading scheme of the Municipality;
• Prepare amendments to the payroll on spreadsheets, with reference to new appointments retirements, death, resignations etc;
• Prepare salary increments annually;
• Prepare spreadsheets after increments, e.g Pension, Medical, shift allowance, stand by allowance, overtime, etc;
• Prepare monthly deduction schedules;
• Implement all new deductions, and prepare spreadsheets thereof, e.g. Policies, garnishee orders, maintenance orders, unions, etc;
• Ensure that all earnings and deductions of employees are on the correct SARS codes;
• Deals with all queries from employees as well as third parties;
• Review all payments made by the Salary clerk e.g. Wages, travel and subsistence claims, overtime, standby, absent hours, etc;
• Ensure that salary documents are kept safe and confidential.
