Housing lists on display at halls

RESIDENTS who registered for RDP houses in three new projects at Kruisfontein, Ocean View and Pellsrus will know this week if they have made it to the next step of the housing application process.

The Department of Human Settlements last week released the list of applicants who passed the prescreening process for the 2 500 houses to be built at Kruisfontein, 1 500 at Ocean View and 220 at Pellsrus next year.

These lists are on display at the Kruisfontein and Pellsrus Community Halls.

Kouga Executive Mayor Booi Koerat said the municipality’s Human Settlements section would be holding meetings with applicants whose prescreening was successful from November 2 to 17.

The schedule of meetings are also be on display at the Pellsrus and Kruisfontein Community Halls.

The Human Settlements offices will close on 12pm on these days.

“The purpose of the meetings is to confirm that applicants’ status have not changed since they registered on the needs database because this could affect their final applications for a housing subsidy,” he explained.

“The meetings will also be used to establish project steering committees for each of the areas. Each committee will consist of six of the prescreened applicants, three municipal staff members and two provincial Human Settlements staffers.”

He said the target was to finalise the beneficiary list by March 30, 2012.
