Preparations underway for Thyspunt meeting

Preparations are underway for the next meeting of the Thyspunt Nuclear Project Joint Steering Committee, aimed at facilitating communication between Kouga Municipality and Eskom regarding the proposed nuclear power plant at Thyspunt. The committee is co-chaired by Kouga Executive Mayor Elza van Lingen (front right) and Eskom’s General Manager: Nuclear New Build Loyiso Tyabashe (front right), who held a preparatory meeting at Jeffreys Bay on Friday (24/03/17) to draft action plans for three of the committee’s working groups, namely, Infrastructure, Human Capital and Environment. The draft action plans are to be tabled at the next meeting of the full committee, to which roleplayers and stakeholders will be invited. Also at the preparatory meeting were Kouga Portfolio Councillor and Project Co-ordinator, Nico Botha (back right), and Eskom’s Thyspunt Stakeholder Workgroup Project Co-ordinator Jongi Dyabaza.
