Prize money for Mayoral Award winners

CATEGORY winners of the 2009 Kouga Mayoral Awards will take home R1 500 each this year.

Nominations for the awards programme is now open, with nomination forms available from municipal offices and libraries, as well as from participating schools, churches and sports clubs.

Kouga executive mayor Robbie Dennis said the aim of the awards programme, now in its second year, was to showcase the achievements of and contributions made by Kouga residents to their communities.

The awards will be presented in seven categories: Sport, Education, Arts & Culture, Conservation, Business, Community Building and Tourism.

The winners will be announced at a gala event in Humansdorp on Friday, December 11.

A special Mayor’s Choice Award will also be made on the evening, the recipient of which will receive R2 500.

Residents are encouraged to nominate candidates they believe would be worthy recipients of the Awards. Nominations close at 12pm on Friday, November 27.

Nominees must be resident in Kouga and be 18 years or older. Kouga municipal officials and councillors may not be nominated but are welcome to submit nominations.
