Report clears Kouga

THE Kouga Municipality did not foot the bill for the rental vehicle used by the ANC during the recent elections.
That is the finding of an internal audit report conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Kouga Municipality spokesperson, Laura-Leigh Randall, said the audit was commissioned following complaints that the ANC used a municipal rental vehicle on April 22 and 23.
Ratepayers were concerned that the municipality would be expected to pay the bill.
The PricewaterhouseCoopers report was handed to the municipality last week.
“The internal audit confirms that the ANC – and not the municipality – paid for the bakkie on these two days, as was explained at the time,” said Randall.
Randall said the municipality viewed the misuse of its fleet in a serious light.
“Last year we invited residents to report suspected misuse to the Office of the Municipal Manager. We again urge residents to contact 084 2055 388 to report these matters.”
