Project Steering Committees for the new RDP projects in Kruisfontein, Ocean View and Pellsrus have been chosen and the beneficiary lists are being finalised.

This follows the release of the list of applicants who passed the prescreening process of the provincial Department of Human Settlements for the 2 500 houses to be built at Kruisfontein, 1 500 at Ocean View and 220 at Pellsrus.

Kouga Executive Mayor Booi Koerat said the lists were displayed at municipal offices and community halls during November.

“The municipality’s Human Settlements section held meetings in these areas to update applicants on the process. The purpose of the meetings was to confirm that applicants’ status have not changed since they registered on the needs database because this could affect their final applications for a housing subsidy,” he explained.

“The meetings was also used to establish project steering committees for each of the areas. Each committee consists of six of the prescreened applicants, three municipal staff members and two provincial Human Settlements staffers.”

He said the target was to finalise the beneficiary list by March 30, 2012.

The Project Steering Committees are:

KRUISFONTEIN 2500: Cedrick Swartbooi, Liz Ann Jafta, Flip Williams, Elwin Goeda, Jody Potgieter and Rosemaree Alison.

OCEAN VIEW 1500: Veronica Kana, Masibonge Sam, Sebengile Kati, Samantha Ratolla, Godfrey August and Nolan Manuel

PELLSRUS 220: Lotatjie Michelle Jantjies, Ralton Perils, Llewelyn Johnson, Jaqui Potgieter, Ralton Fortuin and Carmen Honeybrook

Four members of the relevant project steering committee will be seconded to serve on the Housing Allocation Committee for each of the projects.
