Surfs up for J-Bay Billabong Pro

Kouga mayor Robbie Dennis writes:

IT is a privilege to be the mayor of an area known worldwide for its beautiful beaches and excellent surf.

The Kouga Council knows the value of this natural treasure and will do all it can to protect this incredible coastline for the enjoyment of both present and future generations.

It is little wonder, therefore, that Jeffreys Bay has once again been chosen to host the prestigious Billabong Pro. We, as a community, stand tall in acknowledgement of this great honour.

Billabong SA has always been the sponsor of the competition. We are thankful to them for once again bringing the event to Kouga, thereby promoting the area among surfers and beach-lovers across the globe.

Thank you also to the organisers who never fail to put together an event that does our people proud.

On behalf of the broader Kouga community, I wish all contestants the best of luck and trust that Supertubes will provide the surf for which it is world famous.

Welcome also to the many visitors who faithfully “trek” to Jeffreys Bay each year to witness the world’s finest surfers in action.
