SPATIAL DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK

The Kouga Municipality, with the assistance of the Department of Rural Development & Land Reform, has commenced with the review of its Spatial Development Framework (SDF), 2009. The study area represents the Kouga municipal area, including Jeffreys Bay, Humansdorp, St Francis Bay, Cape St Francis, Oyster Bay, Hankey, Patensie, Loerie, Thornhill and the rural areas.

The main objective of the SDF review process is to compile spatial guidelines which would assist both the Kouga Municipality developers and communities of the area with decisions regarding the future development in Kouga. Preparation of the SDF is based on the requirements of the Spatial Planning & Land Use Management Act, 2013 (Act 16 of 2013).

As part of an ongoing interaction process, a Project Steering Committee has been established.

Interested and affected parties (I & AP’s) are hereby invited to register and will be informed of project progress during the various phases.
