WATER CONSERVATION MEASURES: IMPOSITION OF DROUGHT TARIFF
Notice is hereby given that Drought Water Tariffs and measures are being implemented with effect from 1 July 2010 as provided for in the 2010/11 Budget, which was approved by the Council on 27 May 2010.
This has become necessary owing to the critical shortage and the very precarious position with regard to the availability of water for essential purposes. Supplies are being depleted at an alarming rate and drastic measures to conserve this life sustaining commodity are being implemented forthwith.
The conservation initiatives being advocated are not only the responsibility of the Municipality, but indeed of every citizen in the community. This is a time when we need to rally around and support each other in an endeavour to avert hardships.
Therefore please take note that the Municipality has introduced a monitoring action in respect of all consumers whose consumption exceed 15kl per household per month with immediate effect. You will receive a cautioning letter calling on you to reduce the consumption to at least 12kl. per month.
Should the cautioning not be heeded, a water restrictor will be inserted in the supply line. Any transgressions on the part of consumers arising from the actions on the part of the Council to restrict the use of water can result in the supply being discontinued.
Together we can make a difference and the Council has every confidence that this joint initiative will bear fruit.

WATERBESPARINGSMAATREËLS: INSTELLING VAN DROOGTE-TARIEF
Kennis geskied hiermee dat Droogte-Watertarief met ingang 1 Julie 2010 ooreenkomstig die voorsiening wat daarvoor gemaak word in die 2010/11 Begroting wat op 27 Mei 2010 deur die Raad goegekeur is, ingestel word.
Hierdie stap is noosaaklik as gevolg van die kritieke tekort aan water en die kommerwekkende uitwerking daarop vir essensiële doeleindes. Die huidige watervoorrade verminder teen ‘n onrusbarende tempo en drastiese stappe word nou ingestel om hierdie lewensbehoudende kommoditeit te beskerm.
Die maatreëls wat hierin verduidelik word is nie slegs die verantwoordelikheid van die Munisipaliteit nie, maar inteendeel dié van elke inwoner. Hierdie is ‘n aangeleentheid waarin ons mekaar moet ondersteun en bystaan ten einde swaarkry te vermy.
Geliewe kennis te neem dat die Munisipaliteit met onmiddelike ingang ‘n proses ingestel het om die waterverbruik van diegene wie se verbruik 15kl per maand per huishouding en meer oorskry, te monitor. ‘n Kennisgewing sal op oortreders bestel word om hulle verbruik te verminder na ten minste 12kl. per maand.
Indien daar nie op hierdie waarskuwing ag geslaan word nie, sal ‘n drup-apparaat in die watertoevoer geinstalleer word. Voortdurende oortredings aan die kant van verbruikers kan tot gevolg hê dat die diens opgeskort word.
Saam kan ons ‘n verskil maak en die Raad het volle vertroue dat hierdie gesamentlike inisiatief vrugte sal afwerp.
