PATENSIE - Joy, pride and a renewed sense of possibility filled the air in Ramaphosa Village in Patensie on Friday, 20 March 2026, as thirty residents officially became homeowners, receiving the title deeds to their houses in a heartwarming handover ceremony.

The special occasion brought together Kouga Executive Mayor, Hattingh Bornman, and representatives from the Kouga Local Municipality’s Human Settlements Department. Community members also gathered in support, celebrating alongside the new homeowners as each proudly stepped forward to receive their title deed from the mayor.

For those unable to attend the ceremony at the Patensie Community Hall, the celebration did not pass them by. In a thoughtful gesture, Bornman personally visited residents at their homes to hand over their title deeds, ensuring no one missed this life-changing moment.

Speaking at the event, Bornman highlighted the significance of the occasion, noting that it took place just a day before Human Rights Day – a fitting reminder of the importance of dignity, security, and ownership.

Congratulating the beneficiaries, he emphasised the value of property ownership. He encouraged residents to safeguard their title deeds carefully and to make provisions for them to be passed on to a trusted family member when the time comes.

“Having a home in your name is more than just ownership – it is an opportunity,” he said. “Property has value. It can open doors and create pathways to a better future.”

Residents were also advised to keep their title deeds safe, as replacing lost documents can be costly.
