VACANCY: CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

 

Kouga Local Municipality, an equal opportunity employer, hereby invites applications from experienced, suitable, qualified and committed individuals for the position of Chief Financial Officer, stationed in Jeffreys Bay, on a seven year performance based contract with termination date 30 June 2022.

Competency requirements: NQF 7 qualification in fields of Accounting, Finance and/or Economics or a Chartered Accountant (SA).

A minimum of seven (7) years managerial experience at senior and middle management levels of which 2 years must be at senior management levelin the financial field preferably within the municipal or other government environments.

A thorough understanding and knowledge of the local government financial environment and administration including MFMA, Treasury Regulations, Supply Chain Management, Working experience in GAAP and GRAP and other related legislation and policies so as to perform the required treasury functions for Kouga Municipality and to advise the Municipal Council and the Municipal Manager on financial management matters.

The following functions, competency and skills are fundamental to the position:

Remuneration/ Salary: Negotiable in line with the Upper limits of total remuneration package to senior managers - Government Gazette No 37500.

Reporting: The CFO accounts and reports directly to the Municipal Manager.

Candidates may be required to disclose financial interest, be subjected to security vetting, be subjected to qualification verification, to annually conclude a performance agreement, to undergo a competency assessment and to achieve the minimum competency as per Regulation 495 dated 15 June 2007 within 18 months of appointment.
