VACANCY

 Kouga Municipality, an equal opportunity employer, which subscribes to the principles of affirmative action, awaits applications for appointment in the following contractual vacancies:

1. SHARK SPOTTER

  REQUIREMENTS :

 Grade 10;

Must be able to scan coastal waters for sharks from an elevated platform;

Must have excellent eyesight;

Must have foreknowledge of the different types of sharks that are in our aquatic region and their behaviors;

Must be well acquainted with strict protocols that are in place to effectively warm water users of the presence of sharks and assisting them out if possible;

Background in lifesaving, fishing industry and/or surfing will be an added advantage;

Must be able to work overtime and public holidays;

Must be able to speak two (2) of the three (3) official languages in Kouga (English, Afrikaans, and lsiXhosa)

DUTIES :

Will improve beach safety through both shark warnings and emergency assistance in the event of shark incident;

Will provide and promote public awareness about shark related issues;

Will contribute to research on shark ecology should need arise.

2.  28 X LIFEGUARDS

REQUIREMENTS:

Lifesaving experience is essential;

A Valid Surf Proficiency Award or Lifeguard Award Qualification Identification Document required ( Attached to Application Form)

Must understand the rules of the Blue Flag;

Must be able to speak two (2) of the three (3) official languages in Kouga [English, Afrikaans, and lsiXhosa)

REMUNERATION:

1. Shark Spotter        : R260.00 per day
2. 28 x Life Guards    : R260.00 per day
