POSITION OF A SUPERVISOR AND 7 AWARENESS CAMPAIGNERS
Requirements: NQF Level 6 which is a degree or a diploma is a must for the supervisor, and Matric is a minimum qualification for all awareness campaigners,. Skills required: Leadership. Organising and planning. Basic computer knowledge. Good interpersonal relations. Communication skills (written and verbal). The ability to take an initiative. Basic understanding of environmental/ waste management issues. The ability to work individually and in a team.
Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the entire team. Plan and liaise with the collections department to visit communities to promote waste source separation as part of the community recycling programmes. Arrange community based environmental campaigns to educate members of the community to separate waste and store it accordingly. Assist in the development and implementation of a strategy for the collection of the separated waste. Visits households to monitor waste separation activities. Assist in arranging educational campaigns with ward committees and councilors. Plan and organize educational material for communities and facilities on waste separation. Be involved with community radio stations as part of their campaign. Mobilise the community’s involvement in environmental/waste management advocacy and training programmes.
