ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER (2 Positions)
DIRECTORATE: SOCIAL SERVICES
REQUIREMENTS: Grade 12
National Diploma: Environmental Health;
Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
Must have completed 1 Year Community Services
Valid Code EB Driver’s License
Computer literacy
Good inter-personal, written and verbal communication skills
12 months work experience
Must be able to speak two (2) of the three (3) official languages in Kouga (Afrikaans, English and Xhosa)
KEY DUTIES:
Conduct Inspections and investigations of residential, commercial or other occupied premises and / or open spaces and/or public facilities to determine compliance to by – laws and statutory legislations; Visiting specific premises and observing and recording outcomes of production distribution and consumption areas and the storage, handling and processing sequence.
Assessing and analyzing the adequacy of structural design to accommodate specific business operations with due consideration given to ventilation, lighting, emission and waste extraction systems.
Attending to complaints related to health and safety nuisances (overgrown vegetation, illegal dumping, etc.) and records observations.
Evaluating awareness and adequacy of procedures related to refuse and waste handling and disposal and, collects and performs tests / analysis on samples.
Identifying polluting sources and agents and / or attending community concerns on the spread of infectious diseases and conducts environmental health, hazard and risk assessments.
SALARY R182 136 – R236 400 per annum
