TOURISM AND HERITAGE OFFICER
REQUIREMENTS: 2 - 3 years Tertiary qualification in the Tourism Field.
Code EB driver’s license.
2 – 3 years’ experience in the municipal tourism environment.
Must be willing to travel extensively within the geographic boundaries. Must be able to speak two of the three languages in Kouga (i.e. English, Afrikaans and Xhosa).
Good communications and interpersonal skills.
Good understanding of the legislation relevant to a Municipality.
TASK GRADE: 10
SALARY: R171, 816 – R 217,778 per annum
DUTIES: Work in collaboration with the Kouga Local Tourism Organization (KLTO)
and Kouga geographic Tourism Associations such as District and Provincial Tourism State Departments, township communities and marketing via written, verbal and e-mail correspondence.
Organize regular conference calls/ meetings with co-operatives,and other partners, including attending meetings.
Plan, develop and implement Kouga programs as determined by Budget, SDBIP and IDP.
Ensures that Kouga Local Tourism is active, sustainable and running smoothly according to their constitution and report any challenges to the Manager: Tourism so as to be sorted out timeously.
Ensures that the Kouga Local Tourism Organization Memorandum of Agreement is signed, filed and ready to receive financial assistance on a quarterly basis and when special projects have been approved. Facilitate the smooth running of the Shell Museum and the Kouga Heritage Council.
Plan and develop agendas for meetings, Minutes, reporting format and marketing strategies.
