2 X FIRE FIGHTERS
REQUIREMENTS:
- Post Matric Fire Fighter 1 & 2 certificate (SAESI) at NQF level 5;
- Hazmat Awareness & Hazmat Operational (SAESI);
- 2 Years relevant experience;
- Level 3 First Aid;
- Code C1 driving license;
- Able bodied;
- Must work weekends, public holidays and after hours;
- Knowledge of various firefighting techniques;
- Ability to work in a team;
- Ability to handle stressful conditions;
- Must be able to speak, read and write in at least two of the official languages in Kouga Municipality (Afrikaans, English, and Xhosa).
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
- Required to work shifts;
- Required to work at any fire station within the area of the Authority having Jurisdiction, in accordance with Departmental policies;
- Must be physical fit – Physical assessment will be conducted
SALARY: R189 850.04 Per Annum
TASK: 7
DUTIES:
- Responds to fire and emergency incidents and perform acts/operations under the supervision of the Senior Fire Fighter to neutralize the threat of fire or other danger;
- Conducting the maintenance and inspection of fire hydrants under the supervision of the supervisor, to ensure easily identification and smooth operation during emergencies;
- Participating in rescue teams with specific sequences (installing slings and hooks onto ropes, assembling rescue equipment), following specific instructions of the Officer in charge of the operations;
- Conducting building inspections to verify compliance relating to fire safety by-laws through the inspecting and risk assessment of fire installations and building safety fire regulations and reporting outcomes and specific concerns requiring immediate attention to the Senior Fire Fighter;
- Driving and operating a range of heavy and extra-heavy specialist appliances to/at emergency incidents as directed by the supervisor in order to save lives and property and providing humanitarian services to the community.
