LIBRARY ASSISTANT

REQUIREMENTS:                                           

• Relevant post matric qualification in Library and Information;
• Minimum 6 months experience in a Public Library;
• Computer Literacy;
• Ability to work well in a team;
• Must be physically fit to move heavy Library materials;
• Knowledge of Library operations;
• Ability to work with the public;
• Fluent in at least two of the official languages in Kouga (Afrikaans, English, and Xhosa);

SALARY:                                                     R121 272.00 – R157 428.00

TASK:                                                        6

DUTIES:                                               

• Issue Library material to the public;
• Join/Renew Library material;
• Shelving and circulation of Library material;
• Attend to reference queries;
• Organizing awareness programmes;
• Receiving and checking of library material from the District, Head Office and Donations;
• Conduct children programs and Story Hour;
• Prepare monthly reports and statistics;
• Receipting and reconciling payments;          
• Must be able to work independently;
• Maintain good public relations with the public.
