PROCESS CONTROLLER CLASS II
REQUIREMENTS:
- Process Controller Class II with relevant NQF Level 4 qualification and a Plant operator certificate;
- Minimum of 2-years relevant experience;
- Proven technical/ analytical ability in a water/ waste water plant;
- Office application abilities;
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision;
- Ability to operate necessary water plant equipment. Good communication skills;
- Attention to detail and report writing;
- Must be able to speak, read and write in at least two of the official languages in Kouga Municipality (Afrikaans, English, and Xhosa).
SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Overtime work could become necessary during peak periods.
SALARY: R126 842.18 – R163 816.48 Per Annum
TASK: 5
DUTIES:
- Monitoring of Sampling and analyses of Waste Water samples, Chemical and Bacteriological and ensure that deviation are addressed accordingly;
- Adjusting mechanical control settings to regulate chemical levels to enable destruction of bacteria and/ or activating/ deactivating pumps to commence/ stop the movement of treated/ untreated water or wastewater;
- Performing first line maintenance of pumps and machinery (i.e. greasing, cleaning of non-return valves, minor maintenance works, etc.)
- Performing first line maintenance of pumps and machinery (i.e. greasing, cleaning of non-return valves, minor maintenance works, etc;
- Opening/ closing valves to specific limits to control levels and regulate flow from/to storage units.
- Performing first line maintenance of pumps and machinery (i.e. greasing, cleaning of non-return valves, minor maintenance works, etc.;
- Communicating with the immediate superior, transmitting information on plant condition, performance and outcomes and/ or executing specific instructions to address deviations or disruption to process;
- Attending to the safekeeping of hand tools and/ or apparatus used in the process, applying laid down instructions and guidelines to avoid theft or loss;
- Recording and logging of meter readings of the reservoir raw and final water;
- Logging specific activities/ outcomes associated with operating process in registers, indicating time, incident or occurrence and action, and forwarding updated records for verification and approval;
- Preparing of monthly reports and submitting to the immediate superior.
- Plant housekeeping and waste disposal
PROCESS CONTROLLERS CLASS III
REQUIREMENTS:
- Process controller class II with relevant NQF Level 5 qualification and a Plant operator certificate:
- Class IV process controller certificate would be advantageous;
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience;
- Proven technical/ analytical ability in a water/ wastewater plant;
- Office Applications ability
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision;
- Ability to operate necessary water plant equipment. Good communication skills;
- Good supervisory skills and a supervisors certificate;
- Attention to detail;
- Must be able to speak, read and write in at least two of the official languages in Kouga Municipality (Afrikaans, English, and Xhosa).

SALARY: R148 990.77 – R193 412.53 Per Annum
TASK: 6
DUTIES:
- Monitoring of Sampling and analyses of Water samples, Chemical and Bacteriological and ensure that deviations are addressed accordingly;
- Opening/ closing valves to specific limits to control levels and regulate flow from/to storage units;
- Conducting tests of samples using specific apparatus and equipment, referring to specifications to determine deviation, reporting outcomes and proceeding with corrective measures;
- Adjusting mechanical control settings to regulate chemical levels to enable destruction of bacteria and/ or activating/ deactivating pumps to commence/ stop the movement of treated/ untreated water;
- Attending to the first line maintenance of pumps and machinery (i.e. greasing, cleaning of non-return valves, minor maintenance works, etc.)
- Communicating with the immediate superior, transmitting information on plant condition, performance and outcomes and/ or executing specific instructions to address deviations or disruption to process;
- Logging specific activities/ outcomes associated with process in registers, indicating time, incident or occurrence and action, and forwarding updated records for verification and approval;
- Monitoring and requisition of chemicals &other consumables required on purification plant;
- Processing and monitoring by visual inspection and data analysis and correct deviation of flocculation channels, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection, distribution and telemetry systems;
- Verifying that water quality standards meets SANS 241;
- Checking, monitoring and reporting all infrastructural malfunctioning i.e, mechanical, electrical and Civil;
- Attending to the safekeeping of hand tools and/ or apparatus used in the process, applying laid down instructions and guidelines to avoid theft or loss;
- Attending to deviations in performance or disciplinary/ conflict issues and counselling personnel to correct/ adjust behaviour prior to applying laid down disciplinary procedures;
- Providing guidelines and specific instructions to personnel with respect to the preparation of operations/ process controlling;
- Recording and logging of meter readings of the reservoir raw and final water;
- Logging specific activities/ outcomes associated with operating process in registers, indicating time, incident or occurrence and action, and forwarding updated records for verification and approval;
- Preparing of monthly reports and submitting to the Foreman;
- Reporting any problems to the immediate Supervisor accurately and timeously and record in daily diary;
- Communicating with the immediate superior, transmitting information on plant condition, performance and outcomes and/ or executing specific instructions to address deviations or disruption to process;
