SENIOR METER READER
REQUIREMENTS:
- Appropriate level of secondary qualification-NQF level 4;
- Code EB Driving Licence;
- 12 Months Relevant work experience;
- Good communication skills;
- Good supervisory skills;
- Attention to detail;
- The incumbent be physically fit and able bodied;
- Must be able to speak, read and write in at least two of the official languages in Kouga Municipality (Afrikaans, English, and
Xhosa).

SALARY: R171 709.61 – R222 871.47 Per Annum
TASK: 7
DUTIES:
- Performs specific tasks associated with driving to relevant destinations for recording consumption information for services rendered;
- Receiving instructions/ schedule from the immediate supervisor, inspecting, completing and forwarding vehicle checklist prior to departure to various locations;
- Identifying the relevant routes to be taken and the number of final readings to be taken, including any reconnections and disconnections;
- Commencing with locating consumption meters, reading and recording and verifying accumulated totals on display with figures inserted on prescribed forms/ registers;
- Checking the status of connections and identifying and recording any acts of tampering and damages incurred on connections and flow meters;
- Communicating with relevant personnel from remote sites on any serious defects observed and/ or inability to access meters for recording purposes;
- Forwarding completed schedules to the immediate supervisor for further processing;
- Controls the key performance areas and critical outputs of personnel within the Branch;
- Providing guidelines/ guidance to Meter Readers on the application of procedures and work schedules;
- Monitoring staff attendance through attendance registers and authorizing necessary leave prior to further processing by the immediate supervisor;
- Mental Pressures- Liaising with irate home owners especially when identifying with meter tampering and disconnections
