TOURISM, INFORMATION AND MARKETING OFFICER
REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant NQF level 6 qualification or equivalent
- At least 3 Years’ relevant experience.
- Code B driving license.
- Sound knowledge of the tourism industry.
- Attention to detail.
- Good organizing skills.
- Good communication skills (Written and verbal)
- Ability to work with public.
- Must be able to speak, read and write in at least two of the official languages in Kouga Municipality (Afrikaans, English, and
Xhosa).
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
SALARY: R319 850.33 – R415 169.29 Per Annum
TASK: 11
DUTIES:
- Identifying with the key deliverables and immediate goals detailed in the Council’s Integrated Development Plan in respect of the Tourism, Branding and Marketing Management dimensions of Tourism/ LED development;
- Implementing initiatives and interventions necessary for the delivery of a professional and quality service with due consideration given to the needs of the target public and priorities requiring attention;
- Coordinating information based on trends and expected outcomes to facilitate the provisioning for specific activities/ interventions for Tourism, Branding and Marketing Management;
- Participating in meetings and presenting information and opinions on Tourism economic development opportunities and the capability of current marketing initiatives to support strategies and, develop and strengthen relationships within and outside the organization;
- Destination marketing: digital and print.
- In order to ensure the functionality is capable of supporting Council’s Tourism, Information and Marketing objectives through recognition of immediate priorities and longer-term interventions;
- Defining/ adjusting the role boundaries, workflow processes and job design against laid down service delivery requirements;
- Coordinating broader based stakeholder workshops to seek ideas establishing priorities and determine strengths, weaknesses and threats;
- Coordinating plans detailing interventions, actions and timelines guiding the delivery and/ or execution of Tourism, Branding, and Marketing Management activities;
- Assessing and evaluating Tourism, Branding and Marketing Management project proposals and applications and preparing reports summarizing findings and including specific recommendations for consideration;
- Coordinating the setting up tourism display stands at exhibitions, promoting the capabilities of the area using various communication mediums (print, audio-visual, etc.);
- Maintaining and updating information on tourism events/ programs planned for the region and responds to enquiries/ queries from tourist/ general public;
- Communicating with Tourism organizations (Eastern Cape Tourism, official bodies and investors, etc.) making available information on key local government initiatives and the benefits of investing in the region;
- Providing support to schools and communities with the implementation of tourism curriculum and awareness programs through participation and making available guidelines and information;
- Assessing project deliverables against agreed outcomes and milestones and, establishing reasons for non-achievement of critical requirements;
- Presenting alternative options to the Manager to address constraints or bottlenecks in execution phases;
- Evaluating Tourism, Branding and Marketing Management performance against agreed measures and standards through feedback and situational assessments;
- In order to ensure Tourism, Branding and Marketing Management projects contributes to the empowerment of local communities through sustained job opportunities and/ or business potential;
- Preparing investigational reports and summaries detailing Tourism, Branding and Marketing Management functional progress and/ or outcomes for submission to the immediate superior for consideration and inclusion in specific Committee Agendas;
- Updating system information with specific Tourism, Information and Marketing project information and/ or confirming payments due against transactional details and forwarding documentation for processing;
- Maintaining records of work in progress, notices and correspondence, updating, filing and/ or removing obsolete records and, retrieving information for reference;
- In order to ensure laid down administrative procedures and reporting requirements are complied with and accurate information disseminated to support specific decisions/ actions;
- Communicating with advertising and promotional agencies with a view to administer the approved development of promotional and advertising materials for specific tourism programs and Marketing;
- Participating in meetings and presenting information and opinions on Tourism, Branding and Marketing opportunities and the capability of current marketing initiatives to support strategies and, develop and strengthen relationships within and outside the organization.
