Kouga Local Municipality invites residents, businesses, and stakeholders to participate in the public consultation process for the review of the Integrated Economic Growth (IEG) Strategy, in accordance with Section 21 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, 2000, Chapter 4 (16). The IEG Strategy is a comprehensive short-, medium-, and long-term plan aimed at addressing the economic challenges facing Kouga within the broader South African economic landscape. It seeks to identify and leverage the region’s comparative advantages to drive sustainable economic growth and development.

Young Kouga readers excel in district competition

Kouga’s young readers shone brightly in the recent Sarah Baartman District Municipality Library Week competition, clinching both first and second place honours. Liyabona Singama from Sea Vista secured the top spot in the IsiXhosa reading category, while Jaydan Geswint from Humansdorp proudly claimed second place in Afrikaans reading. Liyabona was awarded a laptop and backpack for the achievement, while Jaydan received a tablet and backpack.

TLB Operator bids farewell after 36 years service

In a heartfelt farewell, Flip Windvogel, a dedicated Tractor Loader Backhoe (TLB) Operator, officially bid adieu to Kouga Local Municipality, marking the end of nearly four decades of service. Windvogel, a native of Humansdorp, took on his role in February 1988 and decided to retire early, just shy of completing 37 years of devoted work.

Young Hankey talent signs contract with Blue Bulls under-20 team

At the tender age of eleven, Jaden's passion for rugby ignited, and now, eight years later, his dedication and talent have paid off. The 19-year-old has secured a contract to play for the Blue Bulls under-20 team.

Kouga Local Municipality launches safety roadshow to educate communities

The Economic Development and Tourism section of Kouga Local Municipality recently launched a roadshow initiative to educate communities on safety and compliance measures for events.  To date, two roadshows have been completed, with two more planned. The roadshow series commenced in November 2024 at the Sea Vista Community Hall in St Francis Bay, drawing 19 participants. Esteemed guest speakers included Darren Mungur, Managing Director of Soul Good Events, Sport, and Activations, and Vangie Boettger, owner of On the Move Events.
